Bressan wines

CARAT

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
Traditionally Tocai Friulano was always a field blend made by 8 vines of Tocai Friulano, 1 vine of Malvasia Istrana and one of Ribolla Gialla.  The result is a rich, golden colored wine with pleasant aromas and flavors of apricot, peach, melon and a hint of almond.   A wine for every occasion.

PINOT GRIGIO

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
Do not even think to compare  this wine as the mockery of the variety wine that unfortunately populate the shelves nowadays. Pinot Grigio being a genetic mutation of a Pinot Noir is closer to a red wine than a white wine.  An elegant golden colored body with a fruity aroma, flowery nuance when young, maturing into a bouquet hinting of dry hay, walnuts and toasted almonds.

VERDUZZO Friulano (Dry),

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
A rare version of verduzzo friulano as very few producers are able to make this wine dry like Bressan does. The variety has in facts quite a tannic profile truly a red wine in a white dress.  A golden, transparent bouquet recalling apples, pears and peaches with a hint of walnut, apricot and acacia-a dry, pleasant body with an almond aftertaste and scent of wildflowers.

MERLOT

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
From a very old vineyard, more than a century years old here there is a rare merlot that defies Sideways boys.  A complexity of tastes, with a full color and aroma of raspberry when young, maturing into a drier taste with lengthier aging.

PINOT NERO

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
A beauty. Very old vines extract the complexity of the Bressan's terroir.  Do not expect a wimpy pinot noir.  This one is assertive strong and will show its kindness after a couple of hours conversation, like the people who make it. A jewel of nuances including burnt wood, truffle, raspberry and wild blackberry, revealing a bouquet of underbrush and musk when mature, ruby red, dry and slightly aromatic.

SCHIOPPETTINO

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
This wine is made from 100% Ribolla Nera.  Intense in its warm velvety color and flavor, this ruby red wine presents a full fruity flavor of wild blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, evolving as it matures into an elegant bouquet of underbrush, musk and aromatic wood.

N°3

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
The Bressan family’s “pearl”- this elegant cuvée (means the grapes are fermented together) of the internationally prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero and the indigenous Schioppettino. It offers a full bouquet of elegant wild blackberries, blueberries and violet enriched by musk and aromatic woods.

EGO

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
Ego is made with Cabernet Franc and Ribolla Nera (schioppettino) old vines trained to have a very low production (less than two pounds per vine).  The grapes are handpicked when very mature, almost late harvest, and softly pressed.  Alcoholic fermentation takes place separately for 30 days with 2 to 3 délestages per day.  Second fermentation is done in  barriques.  Then the two wines are assembled and put to rest for 3 years in oak casks until is bottled and refined for 15 months.  The long oak aging and high acidity are creating a long lasting wine.

PIGNOL

Region:
Venezia Giulia IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO), Friuli, Italy

Description:
Vino di lusso!  “Luxury Wine!” that is the only appropriate definition for this wine, that was given back in 1800.  Made from 100% Pignolo Gentile grapes (the slowest fermenting grape on earth), this wine is as difficult for even the best producers to make as it pays you off with its rare to find elegance.  As usual Bressan doesn't take technology shortcuts and this is a wine that needs an average of 8 years in untoasted casks in order to smooth the tannins and the acidity. The result? A rich ruby-red colored wine offering a delicate, fruity taste, and mysteriously soft on the palate.  A masterpiece.

Bressan Mastri Vinai

The Bressan Mastri Vinai winery, located within the town of Mariano del Friuli, Gorizia province, Italy, date back to the 1600’s.  Their vineyards  are surrounded by rich Celtic history in the strategic landscape of Farra d'Isonzo and founded on solid family values and ancient land, where limpid horizons always capture sensations, colors, scents and flavors most effectively.

Here, the centuries-old spirit of the Bressan family lives.  Where the slopes of the Collio region fade gently and open up onto the Isonzo river valley, in a slice of land protected to the north by the Julian Alps and open to the hot winds of the Adriatic Sea from the south, where a rare mixture of natural elements (geographic, geological and climatic) have created a unique and inimitable "terroir".

With the protection from these geographic luxuries, extreme climate conditions are avoided, and moderate weather permits early development of the entire growing cycle by several days with respect to vineyards that are farther from the river, thus granting grapes with excellent levels of maturation.

Over ten generations of Bressan family dedication has gone into producing wines exclusively of grapes grown from the family's 25 hectares of vineyard.
