FRIULANO Region: Collio DOC, Farra d’Isonzo (GO); Friuli, Italy Description: Tocai Friulano is a typical grape variety that has nothing to share with the Hungarian Tokaij: it is somehow related to the Sauvignon grape. Casa Zuliani Tocai has an intense taste of apricot and nutmeg and a long finish of toasted almonds. |

One of the best presentations is this Cabernet Franc: the wine is very smooth and delicate on the palate tasting of berries and aromatic herbs and cherry. |

MERLOT Region: Collio DOC, Farra d’Isonzo (GO); Friuli, Italy Description: Made by vines grown in highly concentrated areas (9,600 vines per hectare) this merlot develops an aroma of black cherry and has a long finish. |

WINTER Region: Friuli IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO); Friuli, Italy Description: This wine is named after the Viennese family of WINTER, owner of the company, Casa Zuliani, before it was a winery prior to the first World War. Winter is made with a typical Bordeaux mix of grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and varies depending on the vintages. So 2004 is mainly Merlot, 2001 is 50% Merlot 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc. For sure it is one of the great wines that Italy can offer. Winter in the glass has a ruby thickness that become an explosion of blackberry in the mouth with a smooth long pleasant finish and very well rounded tannins. |
