WINTER

Region:
Friuli IGT, Farra d’Isonzo (GO); Friuli, Italy

Description:
This wine is named after the Viennese family of WINTER, owner of the company, Casa Zuliani, before it was a winery prior to the first World War. Winter is made with a typical Bordeaux mix of grapes:  Merlot,  Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and varies depending on the vintages. So 2004 is mainly Merlot, 2001 is 50% Merlot 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc.   For sure it is one of the great wines that Italy can offer.  Winter in the glass has a ruby thickness that become an explosion of blackberry in the mouth with a smooth long pleasant finish and very well rounded tannins.
