ROSSO DI MONTALCINO

Description:
Rosso di Montalcino is the “baby Brunello” coming from the Marchesi Cattaneo estate in Montalcino.  It is made 100% with Sangiovese Grosso.  It has a distinctive pomegranate color and taste of wild cherries and of orange peel.
 



CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA BLU

Chianti Classico DOCG, Gaiole (SI) Italy

Description:
This chianti classico shows international style. Under new regulation of chianti classico the producer is allowed to use up to 20% of international varietals.  This Chianti Classico is made from Gaiole’s vineyards using 80% of Sangiovese and 20% of Cabernet Sauvignon.  This wine is aged in French Tonneaux Allier Tronçais (500L casks - double of a barrique) for 3 and half years and again one full year in bottle before being released.  The color is typical violet and the body is intense but smooth at the same time. 
 


L’UNICO

Description:
A blend of the Sangiovese from Chianti Classico with the one from Brunello di Montalcino tied together by a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon.   The wine has a ruby red hue and a complex bouquet containing toasted undertones and traces of spice, leather and tobacco.  A rich, meandering flavorful wine.  This is wonderful after decanting for 1 hour and served with grilled meats and game.

Marchesi Cattaneo di Belforte
This winery is owned by the Marchesi Cattaneo family one of the oldest noble families of Italy.  From the estate in Chianti they produce Chianti Classico Riserva the blue label is Sangiovese. From Montalcino they produce Brunello  and Rosso di Montalcino.   L’Unico is a classy SuperTuscan blending of the Sangiovese Grosso of Montalcino with the Sangiovese of Chianti Classico: the plum of Brunello and the violet of Chianti Classico are tied together by a mere 5% of Cabernet Sauvignon.
